Am trying to setup access to a filemaker database via ODBC.

Found some notes on the Filemaker website about configuring it.

So, the LDAC plugin is enabled, the Database is shared Multi-User via LDAC.

The notes sat to create a UserDSN using the Filemaker Driver.

The Filemaker ODBC Driver I have is 3.11. It prompts me for the DSN Name (should this be the same as the Filemaker database?), a Description (anything I want, right?) and a Server (I've set it to localhost).

If I run a MS-Query against it, it fails saying it cannot retreive a list of Tables.

Bloody thing!

Any help appreciated.

The file name should be the name of your fmp file with the file extension. Make sure that Filemaker is running and the file is open, otherwise the ODBC call is not received by Filemaker and hence the error message. It is a rather silly requirement (unlike other drivers eg MSAccess, Excel, Borland etc, which do not require the whole application to run)and drove me nuts before I realised what the problem was. Hopefully your field names are ODBC compliant and you are not using repeated fields...
