ejpvi Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Greetings, I am wondering if it is possible to write a script that can export from Filemaker and Merge into an existing Spreadsheet template. Basically, there is a certain spreadsheet some of our users have always manually filled in. They don't want the raw data format that our FMP exports. Is there a way to make it populate the spreadsheet template for them?
TheTominator Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) You can set up FileMaker as an ODBC data source and have Excel connect to that Data Source. Excel can then Refresh Data to repopulate the spreadsheet with a fresh import of the data whenever the Excel user requests. Or if you prefer you can set up Excel's Data Source to be a file exported from FileMaker. You may need to select the file each time you Refresh Data but at least you won't be starting with a new spreadsheet each time. In Excel:mac 2008 a FileMaker file is one of the available data sources. I don't expect that the Windows 2007 (or later) versions of Excel has a similar feature, but you can check.
