Hi,

I need to access a FM server using ODBC. I installed DataDirect SequeLink 5.4 and I can successfully connect to FM from various ODBC clients. The problem arises when I try querying the data: I get errors such as "[DataDirect][ODBC SequeLink driver][ODBC Socket][DataDirect][ODBC FileMaker driver]Invalid character value. Error in column 40.". If I remove column 40, I then get similar errors on other columns or things like "Requested conversion is not supported." I am not sure what to do now. The ODBC driver that comes with version 11 doesn't seem to be able to connect to 9.

Can anybody help me?

Best regards,

Alessandro Federici

This requires FileMaker Server Advanced. Is that what you're using?

I have FM Server. I didn't see any "Advanced" tag on it, but the ODBC driver came with it and I can connect to the DB without problems. In addition, I found out that querying some tables of the FM sample database via ODBC works better than with my customer's DB, although I can get those conversion errors on non English tables.

FileMaker Server does not support ODBC connections from client applications. You need FileMaker Server Advanced for that.
