September 5, 201015 yr My runtime solution is being deployed in FileMaker 11v2 for both Windows and Macintosh users. I currently have no need for the Quick Find widget in the Status Area, and it causes a couple of user interface complications for my solution. While I have removed the Quick Find widget by customizing my Status Area prior to creating the runtime, the Quick Find widget appears by default when I install my runtime on a new user's machine. I expect that it is due to the widget being an application setting and not a file setting. Is there a reliable and supported way to remove the QuickFind widget so that my users won't have to edit their Status Area manually? I fear that the only answer lies in editing the FileMaker application preferences file (or registry entries) for each platform.
