But there is!

I have a DB on a small drive. My DB is 864 KB. The disk is 20 MB, and 18.3 MB is available.

Every time I try to make a change to the DB FMP tells me to make space on the disk in order to be able to make changes.

Is this a bug? Does it need tons of space to make invisible files to safe?

If I copy the DB to an other disk it has no problems. Copy it back and the problem is back. Me puzzled, any thoughts?

FMP writes cached and temporary data to the boot disk, not the disk where the database is saved. The boot disk is probably the one that is full.

Unlikely with 60 GB free. and as said if I copy the file to the boot disk it works, copy it back to the other one and I get the message.

OK tried something else. I opened it in FMP 8.03 and I can use it as normal, I do not get the disk full message.

Anybody any ideas?

I did some more testing, this might help any of you to help me find the solution.

I can recreate it again and again.

Here is how to do it. Create a disk image. Copy a FMP11 DB to it, try to make changes. You should now get the message. Copy it back to the main HD and it works. Open it in FMP8 on the image and you can work in it as much as you like.

In my case it worked fine for years under FMP8, I am stumped as to why it stopped.

Anybody any ideas as to why this is and how to fix it? Or where to find an answer? I wrote to FM about it and got a cut and paste 'touch luck' answer.
