Corey Ballantoni Posted July 23, 2000 Posted July 23, 2000 My company has used File Maker for years on MAC computers, but they have decided to switch to PC's. When we transferred the database from the MAC's to the PC the layout on the screen was fine, but when we print the a sheet the layout becomes misaligned. We have sheets of data that display operation numbers in one column and they must line up with the operation data in another column. Well on the screen the numbers line up with the data, but when we print the sheet the numbers no longer align with the data. It worked perfectly on the MAC version, but when used on a PC we have that problem. What could cause this problem? Please help.
Vaughan Posted August 23, 2000 Posted August 23, 2000 Two issues: 1) fonts are different between Mac and Win, subtle differences that change line breakes etc in critical cases -- not just an FMP issue, happens in wp and dtp a lot; and 2) different printers render the pages differently, depending on whether the printer uses internal fonts etc. In short, you may have to renovate all the layouts for the new OS and printer.
Newbies Cocahoe Posted September 27, 2000 Newbies Posted September 27, 2000 Hello, You may have already solved your problem by now however we solved a number of minor printing problems by switching from standard PC laser printers to printers that are post script capable. Some printers can be upgraded depending on the models you use. Good luck.
