Newbies Adrian McManus Posted October 21, 2010 Newbies Posted October 21, 2010 Not sure where to post this but I have a 600+ MB database file that I am serving via FM10 Server on Windows Server 2003 R2. I am having performance issues accessing the file remotely via the internet. It is very slow when opening the file (sometimes it takes up to 45-60seconds to open) I have a T1 line at the office and I have UVERSE MAX internet service at home accessing my database. Is there anything I can do about this? Not sure if I'm missing something. Thanks in advance, Adrian
fseipel Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 You may want to connect to the office with Remote Desktop instead of FM. Then you can run the client in an RDP session. This way, if connection is broken, there is no risk of damaging the database file, and RDP will automatically reconnect, unlike Filemaker. With print sharing checked, you can still print to your home printer. You can connect to the console session of the server 2003 box, or to another session if you have CALs. You can try to compress/compact, defragment HD while database server is down, and check if startup scripts are performing queries that take a long time.
