Newbies dmandave Posted October 22, 2010 Newbies Posted October 22, 2010 I've got Supercontainer up and running, but on one of my machines the prompt saying "An applet from 'myserver' is requesting access to your computer..." refuses to show up, I've tried messing around with the Java Preferences but to no avail. It's just the rotating coffee mug- any help would be appreciated!
Smef Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 You may be getting your permissions prompt behind your browser window, or your user may have accidentally hit decline and remember so that it is not popping up any more. Try clearing your java cache and security settings so that you will be prompted again. I also recommend making sure that you are running the latest version of java, and that you restart your computer after installation.
Smef Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 What OS is this happening on, and what java version?
Newbies dmandave Posted October 22, 2010 Author Newbies Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) Snow Leopard, Java is fully up to date (1.6.0). I cleared the cash and reset, still nothing though. It's actually happening on two new iMacs that we just got direct from Apple, both running Filemaker Advanced 11... Edited October 22, 2010 by Guest
Smef Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 are you able to see the pink version number box at http://javatester.org ?
Newbies dmandave Posted October 25, 2010 Author Newbies Posted October 25, 2010 I can see it in chrome and firefox, but under filemaker I just get the spinning coffee mug...
Newbies dmandave Posted October 25, 2010 Author Newbies Posted October 25, 2010 oh- and the version it's showing me is "1.6.0_22 from Apple". I believe the other machines are running under 1.5, could this possibly be an issue?
Smef Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I definitely recommend using the latest version of java. On the computer having a problem can you please open your java preferences and check your security tab and see if your server is on that list. Clearing it off here should force that dialog to pop back up again the next time you visit that page. You may want to try it in a browser and then click the "always allow" checkbox so that you won't have to deal with the popup any more.
Newbies dmandave Posted October 26, 2010 Author Newbies Posted October 26, 2010 I've tried both these methods but am still getting the spinning coffee mug...
Smef Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Could you contact me for screen sharing? I think there is a problem with Java running on your system in general, as you can't see the box at javatester.og, but I would like to take a look and try and find out what is causing this. My contact information is below.
