FileMaker Pro 4.0 Freezes/takes 20/25 to Launch

FileMaker Pro 4.0 is installed on an NT

Workstations. When FileMaker is launched, it

takes approximately 20/25 to start and the CPU usage jumped to 100%.

I have other NT/98 Workstations running FileMaker with no Problem - Help.

I have changed the Font (thought it was corrupted), that didn't seem to take care of the problem.

Sorry I am not totally familiar with NT (I do have FMP4 running on an NT box but it is "managed" for me). I can only offer some general advice:

Make sure you are running the latest patch release for your version fo FileMaker pro. Toddle on over to http://www.filemaker.com and download the updater from there. I think it's 4.0v3.

Secondly, defragment the server's hard disk. this may be an overnight job but it's not particularly hard to do.

You don't state whether this particular machine has Web Companion set up. You also might want to check what the FileMaker network protocol is set to... the program might be waiting for a protocol to load or something. Check what the other machine's FMP preferences are and compare them to those on the errant machine.

Let us know how it goes.
