Slow Data Entry Into Portal

One table matches to another table via 5 keys. Entry takes FOREVER into the related table.

Does # of keys make a difference with data entry? How do I fix this?

On data entry about half the time I'm also getting error "ID requires unique value" about PARENT record ID (which IS unique and not being created in relationship). I'm very puzzled.
