November 29, 200025 yr I have a couple of time fields in which on the Mac with FileMaker 3.0CAv4 I can enter the time in a variety of formats, including am/pm like, "5:06pm". However the same fields in Windows FileMaker 3.0CAv3 will not accept times in anything but 24 hour notation (although it then displays them in am/pm notation as specified in the field format). In my Windows version, I have to enter the above as "17:06" or "17:06:00" to have Filemaker accept it. If I try "5:06pm" I get the message: 'The time in this field must be hours, hours and minutes, or hours minutes and seconds, and should look like "13:89:08".' And the only options are 'Revert Field' and 'OK'. And yet on the Mac version it is fine. The fields have NO auto-enter or validation options set, and the field formats on the layout in question are to display in 12hour (am/pm) notation. How can I get the Windows version to accept times in 12 hour notation? PS. I know there is a downloadable update to this Windows version of FileMaker, however, when I tried to install it, it screwed up FileMaker completely and required a complete re-install of the original version. If someone can verify that they can reproduce this problem in this version of FileMaker for Windows and the same database does not have that problem in the updated version then I would consider trying the update again.
November 29, 200025 yr First of all, upgrade *immediately* to 3.0v6 from http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/index.html because any older version is not Y2K compliant. (I'd have thought that everybody would have done this by now.) Regarding the time format: that's a function of the operating system. Use the control panel to change the preference. Nothing to do with FileMaker Pro.
