Does anyone know if this is possble. I have a 5.0 Filemaker file that I made at home that I need to use at the office, but the office only runs 4.1. Am I out of luck?

Please help.

I think this is not possible. FMP v5 is a recompilation of the v4 code. I've heard, but dont know for sure, that v.4 was written in Pascal and v.5 is now in C++. So you can see why v.4 is not forward compatable. If it is only a one time translation, you could export to a tab delimited file then import it into v.4.1. Of course you would have to redo your layouts, scripts and calcs. I will be interested to see if anyone has a better idea.

It's not what language the application is developed in, it's merely that FileMaker Inc decided to change the file format. The answer is still the same, however: not backwards compatible.
