JackSparks Posted November 5, 2001 Posted November 5, 2001 Does anyone know if this is possble. I have a 5.0 Filemaker file that I made at home that I need to use at the office, but the office only runs 4.1. Am I out of luck? Please help. Jack
dbhill Posted November 5, 2001 Posted November 5, 2001 I think this is not possible. FMP v5 is a recompilation of the v4 code. I've heard, but dont know for sure, that v.4 was written in Pascal and v.5 is now in C++. So you can see why v.4 is not forward compatable. If it is only a one time translation, you could export to a tab delimited file then import it into v.4.1. Of course you would have to redo your layouts, scripts and calcs. I will be interested to see if anyone has a better idea. ~Dennis
Vaughan Posted November 5, 2001 Posted November 5, 2001 It's not what language the application is developed in, it's merely that FileMaker Inc decided to change the file format. The answer is still the same, however: not backwards compatible.
