February 15, 200124 yr Newbies Using File Maker 4.0. I have a simple report with 2 sub-summaries and a body. I want the body to slide up when there is nothing in the sub-summary line. It won't work. FM help doesn't help. What am I doing wrong?
February 15, 200124 yr A couple of questions: Do you have a line or some text other than the field in the sub summary part which you think should be sliding up? Did you set the sub summary field to slide up, along with part when empty? Are you reviewing the layout?
February 15, 200124 yr Author Newbies This is a very simple report. Sub-summary 1 Sub-summary 2 Body (1 to several lines) The sub-summary part that I want to slide into (Sub-summary2) has only 1 line (text data field) and nothing else. The body part below the sub-summary has only two data fields and no text or graphics. I have set the fields to slide but not the parts. How do set parts to slide? I use Preview mode to see how things look. ------------------

When you are setting the fields to slide up there is a check box with the text "Also reduce the size of the enclosing part." This should be ticked for the field in the sub summary part 2. See if this helps.

February 23, 200124 yr I've had the same problem, many times. Once in a while I find it's caused by some invisible characters in the offending field, but usually it just seems like a bug in FM??? Did you ever figure it out? Also: does anyone know whether FM is supposed allow the reduction in the size of a title header (via the Sliding function)? I have a report that just won't do it. Thx.
February 23, 200124 yr Author Newbies I have gone in and cleaned out the empty fields in some records in case there was invisible characters, but it still didn't slide. Still haven't found a solution and am running out of ideas. Hope someone else in the FM-Pro world has something new to try.
March 3, 200124 yr I just spent the last two hours with the same problem. I found that the align text can't be centered. It would only slide if the alignment was set to top. I didn't try bottom. That worked for me, so I would check your alignment on your field.
