Newbies Mano Vasilakis_84070 Posted May 1, 2011 Newbies Posted May 1, 2011 I just looked at the Sciptmaster plugin and it looks pretty neat. I see the function Convert URLs to Hyperlinks and thought it might be useful to do expand a little on the functionality of what I've put together. To brush up on Filemaker for some work I need to do I dusted off an old FM file, added some stuff to it, jazzed it up and offered it out to the Crossfit community. The files are here: https://public.me.com/mvasilakis (guest or 'admin' + blank pass for FP7 file) My question (finally): Is it possible to take the text in the WOD field in the WOD tab and create hyperlinks to found text using Convert URLs to Hyperlinks? For instance in my first record in the file has the term "Thruster". I would like to single out "Thruster", reference against a table and hyper link Thruster to http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFit_BBThrusters.mov and then find "Chest to Bar Pull-Ups" and again in link it to (which will be in the table.) Basically it will make it easier for new Crossfitters to find examples online of the basic movements.
dansmith65 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 The only idea that's coming to me for this is... Display the links in a webviewer in a tab control; so the two tabs would be "text notes" and "links". As you said, you would need a separate table of terms, and their associated links. Let's call that table "Hyperlinks". To display the links, you would need to search the WOD field for each record in the Hyperlinks table, and display the associated link if found. If you have many entries in the Hyperlinks table, this could be slow to process. An easier way would be if each term was on a separate line, then you could use a relationship to the Hyperlinks table to retrieve the links. From what I understand, that wouldn't work for you though. btw, I know a Crossfitter, so i'll send him a link to this. thanks for contributing this software to the community!

No problem I would love to know that this helped someone out. I also noticed a lack of any serious software for Crossfit. And being an open source workout program I figured an open source log should be available. I will play with your idea and see if I can get it work. I just started Crossfitting myself about 3 months ago along with my wife. And sometimes she needs the wod and an example of the moves. That's where I got the idea of having a small db within the file to link to common Crossfit examples. A resource like that can be invaluable to beginners like myself. (Sometimes I'll spend an hour before a workout scouring the web to understand a lift. I workout at home and I don't want to get hurt.) Thanks again, Mano
