Newbies GreeneESC Posted May 17, 2011 Newbies Posted May 17, 2011 Am having a problem with my FM Server 10 opening the Admin Console I can launch the Admin Console, login, etc. locally on the server. However, when attempting to view databases, clients, etc. I get an error.... "The Database Server is not available. Admin Console functionality is limited to FileMaker Server Overview and the Log Viewer. To use other functionality, please start the Database Server again." When I attempt to start the Database server, nothing happens. The Server appears to be functioning normally as far as "serving" databases. I can view and log in remotely as usual to all databases hosted on this server. This problem has appeared recently...possibly after an overnight power outage. Have restarted the server several times with no joy. Server is running on a Mac Pro OS 10.4.11 FM Server Version 10.0.2.206 Would appreciate any suggestions for a solution...thanks.

Did you recently apply the Java update x24? If so, it broke your Console. Steven
Newbies GreeneESC Posted May 18, 2011 Author Newbies Posted May 18, 2011 Java version on the server is 1.5.0_19 Also, in addition to the "symptoms" first posted above...which appear when attempting to log into the console locally... I get errors when attempting to connect to the console from a remote workstation. There is an error message "Unexpected exception: java.lang.reflect.invocationTargetException"... ...with a significant amount of "code" displayed under a "Launch File" tab, as well as an "Exception" tab. Is there any benefit in me displaying that code here? (don't want to waste your time if not) The java version on the remote workstation is 1.5.0_28 Thanks for your replies and assistance.
Newbies GreeneESC Posted May 30, 2011 Author Newbies Posted May 30, 2011 Well...looks like this wasn't as big a deal as I was thinking. It turns out that all I had to do was delete the Java cache files, restart the server, and all is good now.
