jkrier Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 We are testing FMGO and I was wondering what are the known security risks of using an Exernal IP address to access FMServer. Of course we have a username\password setup on the files as well as checking if the app is FMGO. The reason we want to do this is it is so much quicker for the user to get to the files this way. I didn't see this as an option in the FMGO documentation and I'm not a network person. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Himitsu Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Need a little more info. A quick answer would be that Go functions the same as Filemaker Pro in the sense of accessing your database. So if your system is hosted on an external server and you access it through a dedicated IP or domain to that server, then it is going to rely on the security settings and priv. you have set for that application. So as long as you have no guests accounts or that default Admin account without a password turned off, then you should be fine.
