Layout images broke after recent update.

I manage a small office network of 5 computers running FMP9.0 which I recently updated to 9.03 along with the SSL update to match. Two machines that have undergone the update no longer display embedded images in the database layouts properly. While the other three have no problems at all. The images are not in container fields (in retrospect that would have been much smarter) but placed right on the layout board.

There is extensive use of auto resize to generate seamless borders and title bars. The images that show "gaps" have been linearly stretched from a single pixel width to the appropriate length of each layout object (three different lengths of a button for example). Not all layout elements constructed this way display the seams between images, which makes me think its something to do with how the files were saved into filemaker as the layouts were built (insert image once, then duplicate). But why is it only cropping up now after this update? And why only some graphic elements? They're all constructed the same way (a couple of images placed side by side, grouped, then duplicated for use in other locations and layouts).

The images are even incorrect in layout mode, not just browse mode.

Windows 7 may be the culprit, as the two affected machines are recent upgrades. I've held off upgrading the rest until the wrinkles are ironed out. Is there any hope of resolving a graphics display glitch between FMP9.03 and Windows 7 if that is the case?

Has anyone else come across this hiccup?

Indeed, FMP 9 is not certified for Windows 7. There are known issues and they won't be fixed. From memory the earliest FMP version certified for Windows 7 is FMP 10.0v3 (ie, 10.0v1 and 10.0v2 are not certified).

It may be possible to redo the images again to resolve this issue. Do not copy and paste images, use the Insert Picture command.

Yuck, I was hoping that wasn't going to be necessary. I guess it serves me right for not building my layouts with container fields right from the start. Thanks for the input.

Before doing too much, download the FMP 11 trial (free for 30 days) and see if things are better.

I will certainly try that. Thanks. I may finally have a convincing argument to get my client to upgrade ;)
