Environment: Snow Leopard Server, Filemaker Sever Advanced 11, Lasso 9

Installation... followed instructions for installing instructions for filemaker server advanced. Seems like it is working. Can go to http://serveraddress/supercontainer and I get a webpage.

Deployment: What I want to do is work within a Filemaker environment not WPE if that makes sense.

I am sharing the SuperContainer Example by adding the database to the Filemaker Server and opening in the SErver Admin Console. I have installed the plugin on the Filemaker client 11. When I open the remote example database I get the error " This action cannot be performed because this file is not modifialbe"

Deployment Goal: I would like to add drag/drop functionality to our product catalog database. I would like for a FM client to be able to remotely access the product catalog, query a product in the database and with the help of supercontainer be able to drag and drop multiple product images/views (I am assuming that I can have multiple supercontainers ie. 5 on a single layout). Image data should be saved on the server. This database is accessed by an apache webserver/Lasso 9 which would utilize the supercontainer reference URLs to access the images for e-commerce.

Am I on the right track? Where am I going wrong with the installation? I am working in Demo mode until I can get it to work.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

It sounds like your server doesn't have write permission on the database file. Make sure you upload it through the admin console, and that the file isn't heavily restricted as far as permissions go. It looks like the server can't write to the database file right now. I see this happen on windows when people try running the file from within the zip without extracting it, but it sounds like you extracted it already and have uploaded it to your server.

Our example file is just that... an example, and so you don't really need to use it for anything other than an example of functionality. You definitely don't need to upload it to your server, and I would probably recommend just running it localy for convenience rather than uploading it anyway.

SuperContainer is definitely a good tool for you to use. It sounds like the only issue you're having right now is that you seem to have adjusted the permissions on the example file so that the server can't write to it. You don't need to use the example file for anything so it's not a problem that it's read-only right now as far as using SuperContainer goes, but if you want to look through it I would recommend re-downloading from http://360works.com/supercontainer/ directly to the computer that you are working on and launching the example file locally if you want to look at it so that you don't have any permissions issues.

Give me a call/IM/Skype if you have any questions about the deployment. If you need a hand configuring your network, server, or database we can help you with that as well at our rate of $165/hour.
