I AM TRYING TO MERGE INFORMATION FROM FILEMAKER INTO MICROSOFT WORD/PUBLISHER AND ALSO TO EXCEL FOR GRAPHS.

....and what happens?

You can use ODBC or Apple Events to move data from one to the other. Also Microsoft has an "add-in" that works between Excel and FileMAker Pro, but it has a lot of problems with it.
