droosan Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 For anybody who has dealt with printing from FM on MacOSX 1) My HP Business Inkjet 2250tn prints beautifully on MacOSX. However I can't select the tray it prints to. It always prints to the top tray, unless its empty. HP is about as helpful as two-legged hunting dog. I know this isn't entirely a FM problem but since it may have affected other FM users, I am hoping someone might have ideas on where I can go for help. 2) On OS9 I could set up Page Setup to print on envelopes of any size, save the page setup in a script, and next time I needed to print on that size envelope I would simply run the appropriate script. On OSX I can't seem to custom size the page setup and there are only a few preset sizes to choose from. Am I looking in the wrong place? Any pointers?
agraham999 Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 It is true that there are a lot of printing features missing in OS X...although tons of them are the responsibility of the companies that manufacture your printer. It does help if you have a printer that supports Postscript and therefore has a PPD file. My color laser has a PPD file in OS X so it does allow me access to paper trays and such. As far as #2...this should work fine...it does for me. I guess go back to the Layouts you print from, print from them, go into Scriptmaker and ensure the script uses this setting via restore. Do the same for all your layouts. I'm programming a number of solutions right now. One of them prints a invoice and then one of two sized shipping labels (through Message). It works flawlessly everytime. Good luck.
BobWeaver Posted April 6, 2002 Posted April 6, 2002 Actually, it's not a Filemaker problem, it's an OSX problem. There are currently a lot of problems with OSX printer drivers. The best source for answers to these problems is at www.MacFixit.com They have an excellent user forum there discussing the various aspects of working with peripherals under OSX.
