Sliding objects splitting across page breaks.

Featured Replies

You could put the closing part of the letter in a sub-summary part. If it doesn't fit at the bottom of the current page, the whole thing will print on the next page. In the part setup dialog, make sure you don't check the "Allow part to break across page" option. You will of course have to choose a sort field for the sub-summary part. Just pick something unique like a serial number etc., and then make sure you sort on that field before you print.

Say you have a multipage layout - like Bob Weaver's multipage business letter layout

http://www.fmforums.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=000026

for example. And you have a sliding object, for example the

Sincerely

John Q Private

at the end. Is there some way to keep it from splitting across a page break? Specifically, if there isn't enough room at the bottom of the page for the "Sincerely", the blank line, and the "John Q Private", then the whole text block (not field necesarily) should go on the next page.

Thank you, Bob, You're my hero.

It worked like a charm, after I figured out that sub-summary doesn't print if print is set to print "current record" instead of "records being browsed." That was weird. With hindsight it makes sense with what sub-summary was designed for, but it was confusing when it would show up on preview but wouldn't print.
