Newbies spaceegreg Posted December 2, 2011 Newbies Posted December 2, 2011 Hi - I've been using SuperContainer workgroup at a client's for a few years and recently had a few problems with the Apple Java 6 update. As a result, we got SuperContainer current and working again (thanks to 360Works Support department), but in the process found that some of methods we were using to attach documents to our FileMaker databases no longer work. We used to be able to: 1. Drag a document directly from the Desktop or a folder into the Web Viewer for SuperContainer. This apparently no longer works - a folder for that document is not created on our FileMaker Server. Instead we have to click the Choose File and then click the Upload file in order to store the document on our FileMaker Server. 2. Drag a document directly from the Sidebar in Preview into the Web Viewer for SuperContainer. This apparently no longer works - again, a folder for that document is not created on our FileMaker Server. Instead we have to click the Choose File and then click the Upload file in order to store the document on our FileMaker Server. The drag from Preview was especially helpful because users would open multiple documents in Preview and select and drag only the documents they would want to attach to a record in FileMaker - very slick. Was anyone else attaching documents using these methods? If so, have you noticed the same apparent loss of functionality? Have you found any workaround? 360Works - are you folks aware of this, and if so, any chance we can get these features working again? Thanks! Greg
ooparah Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Hey Greg, Yes, this is a known issue and was "resolved" in the latest release of SuperContainer. The ability to Drag-and-drop files and folder into the SuperContainer Web Viewer was functionality that is intimately connected with the Apple bug since it is a function of the Java applet -- which, was disabled in the latest version of SuperContainer. Unfortunately, this functionality can not be restored until Apple releases a fix for how it handles Java applets. So, we are essentially on Apple's time as far as re-enabling this functionality with SuperContainer. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused but as soon as we hear from Apple, we will work to restore this functionality. Regards,
Newbies Bentleyonthego Posted December 5, 2011 Newbies Posted December 5, 2011 Hello, I would also like to address this issue. And to thank Greg that I am not the only person experiencing this. This is a major issue, we are coming to a point were we need supercontain WITH drag and drop. ya its great otherwise, but unneeded without drag and drop. We have almost 100 employees here and we are at a point were we need to update java for certain programs but can't with filemaker issue. Is there any thread that I can post on in apple site so I can press the issue also. Thank you very much
ooparah Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Bentleyonthego -- Unfortunately there is no "public way" to check the status of a bug. However, we are following up with this bug as well and have made steps to hopefully hasten the resolution of this issue. We will inform SuperContainer users as soon as a fix has been provided and we are able to restore the Drag-and-drop functionality via our 360Works website. Remember that all of your users can still upload files by clicking the buttons provided in the web viewer. The ability to upload a folder and have it automatically zipped should not be affected by this. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and your users. Thank you,
