Find Not Working in Portal

Newbies

Hi, I have a filtered and sorted portal. I need to be able to perform finds on the fields within the filtered portal. I am able to enter find mode and enter data in a field but when I click enter, the rows it finds are not correct. Is this possibly due to the filter? I can't imagine that I wouldn't be able to perform finds in the portal. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
