Newbies stompit Posted June 1, 2000 Newbies Posted June 1, 2000 I am sharing a filemaker 5.0 database from the network server, (NT), and the first person that opens the the database on their workstation gets the message: "You are about to become the host of the multi-user file....etc. etc." I have seen something about a registry mod that will disable that message. Does anyone have this or know what I need to do to disable it? Thanks for the help. If you do, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks again. ------------------ Brian J. Marks [email protected]
Newbies Conang Posted June 14, 2000 Newbies Posted June 14, 2000 I suspect that the user is locating the file by navigating to its location and opening it from there. To to open a database hosted on a server you have to click on the 'Hosts' button in the File:Open... dialog and open the server and then database from there. In our situation we actually have a small database on each client machine that presents buttons for all of the main database so users don't have to navigate like this- it's a bit clunky.
