Networking a mixed system and Internet

Currently we are networking fm pro 4.1 on an iMac, a iBook, and a PC. We are connected trhough ethernet using TCP/IP. We also need to connect to the internet using PPP from time to time on all the different computers. Our trouble is that inorder to make this work we have to switch tcp/ip from ethernet to PPP inorder to dial up and get connected. By doing this we loose our connection networking within our office and are forced to restart FM Pro. Is there a easy solution to this problem, or what should I do to fix this problem?

With a mixed network you have no choice but to use TCP/IP. If it was all Macs or all PC's, you could switch Filemaker to Appletalk or IPX/SPX which would not conflict with your internet IP settings. In your case you will need a router. There are both software and hardware versions available. Check out some of the following:
