I am trying to build a menu management system so i have created different tables :

INGREDIENTS

RECIPES

MENU

Th idee is that the person composes his weekly menu selecting dishes out of the recipe table

The person defines his offer (category) which is the same every week. it is possible that an offer is present twice... for exemple

1. SOUP

2. SOUP

3. SANDWICHES
4. COLD DISHES
5. HOT DISHES

6. DESSERT

Every outlet can have a different offer but once it is established it doesn't move anymore ... i have therefore programmed the categories in a global so that every time you create a new menu the selections are already present.

When the person creates a new menu he can select the recipes according to the selected categories directly in the menu plan.

Everything goes fishy wen there is 2 times the same category ( 2 times sandwich for example) the selection of the recipes modify the other selection in the same category.

I know I am playing out way out of my league on this one...lol... and my ambition is to show some info from the MyRecipe table in the WeeklyMenu... hope gives life...

;-)

Hi

Filemaker does not like records that are identical you need to create an ID field for each record that is unique . so if soups is a category it would always be set to a certain ID. ALSO when you create the list above where soup is listed twice this list also needs unique IDS . so soup would be Id 2 and id 3

you can then search for recipes by doing a find request for each entry but attach or relate the recipients by the corresponding Id# and not the word soup .
