March 25, 201312 yr I've just downloaded Scriptmaster onto my new laptop, running Windows 8, from the 360Works website. When I launch the Scriptmaster.fp7 file in Filemaker 10 advanced, it complains that the plug-in is not installed and it wants to download it. If I let it do that, then it tells me it isn't installed. It shows on the plug-ins pane but is not configured; if I try and configure it, I get the message that Java 1.5 is not installed.on this computer. I've tried converting the Scriptmaster.fp7 to an FP12 file, but get the same message when I go to open it in FP12. Googling for the problem suggests that there is some issue with Metro and Java but I frankly have no idea what this means or how to solve it. Is Scriptmaster usable in Windows 8? Thanks Brian
March 25, 201312 yr I feel your confusion and pain. My SM problem was that it WOULD work on my WIndows 7 machine but NOT on my OSX 10.8 machine. The problem suddenly arose, seemingly, after I upgraded Jave to Java 7. I reinstalled, uninstalled, rolled back Java all to no avail. I downloaded the 'current' SM plugin and put it in the Extensions folder... no change. I put it in the 'Hiden Library....' folder... no change. Finally, I uninstalled Filemaker 12 and reinstalled and updated it to v 03. Ba boom. Everything was back to working.... Hope this helps.
March 28, 201312 yr Author The issue with Windows 8 seems to be that Java doesn't work in the Metro interface but will work on the desktop. I installed the latest version of Java into the Windows 8 desktop and now Scriptmaster does load and run correctly when I start FMP10 from the desktop. I've not confirmed what happens with FMP12 yet, nor what this means in terms of working with Metro. Brian
