I am a new user, trying to find out if filemaker is the right product for me. I need a relational database that will be used to store slides, books, and video. I want the image files to be embedded - so that when called upon they show alongside the text information rather than calling up an outside software program to display them - can someone help?

Yes.

Sounds, images and movies can be stored in "container" fields. Images in container fields can even be displayed over the web through Web Companion.
