retaining formats of inported text

Is it possible to inport text and retain its formatting ie italic, font size etc access can do this in a "memo field" but is it possible with FM

Import operation does not preserve text formatting.

The only way i know is to cut from source and paste in the target FM (but only in layout mode; in browse mode it does unformat the text).

Maybe a plug in can be very helpful (take a look to the plug in section on the official FMP site)
