PDF graphics with OS X

Newbies

I was very excited to be able to save in PDF off my CAD program then directly place in FileMaker, which I use to print a plan book. However, Filemaker prints it as screen resolution....so I am back to opening the PDF in Canvas in order to save as a TIF, then place in FileMaker. This way prints fine, but requires extra steps and makes the PDF import worthless for me. Is there any way tp get FileMaker to use the PDF for printing and not print from the screen version?
