Using "Smart Tabs" as a standard

I stumbled upon a nice "smart tabs" template by Onegasoft. By using it you can easily create "smart" tabbed interfaces, without having to go through the work of copying and rearranging tabs all the time, the tabs "know" what and when to display based on the name of the layout.

Now I'm thinking of using this as part of a template I'm developing for a rather large solution (>25 files). Have anyone tested using this in a larger scale and is there any downsides to using it?
