favorite host preference file

I believe pre v13, you could edit the favorite host preference file.  I just migrated my mac to a new machine and my favs are gone.   In the past I would just replace the current local file from the backup, but it does not seem possible now. I even tried to modify the file with a text editor but that failed as well.   Any suggestions, or do I have to manually enter again.

figured it out.  mod said file and reboot machine, seems to be a cashe thing
