Path information for container fields

Featured Replies

I have an FM 4 database of about 1400 records with a container field for a quicktime movie. The movies themselves are stored on 7 CDs, called CD-1 to CD-7. Under earlier versions of the Mac OS (8.1), if the CD in the drive was not the one for the current record's QT file, the OS would prompt "Insert CD-5". Under the newer OS (X) the error dialog simply says "Please locate file <filename>" without any path information.

The path data must be held in the db somewhere, because it is still accessible to OS 8. Does anyone know how I can winkle the path out and stick it into a field so that I can build my own error message?

Many thanks, Dave
