mhudd Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 Why is the blank portal row that follows a data row necessary? It is very confusing to the user.
Vaughan Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 It's not necessary. To turn it off, uncheck the option "allow creation of related records" in the portal's relationship. However, adding new related records with the blank row is dead simple -- just click and type: FMP creates the new records in the related database and inserts the appropriate value for the key automatically. Teach your users how to use the blank row -- to create a new related record "manually" requires a global field, a "global" relationship and quite a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with scripts.
