Hi,

I'm building a database that calculates the next date of occurrence for every statutory holiday (Every one of them, for every country/religion!). Consider the huge amount of research and calculation... but I figure someone must have done this before, so I call on to all of you for help.

I'm looking for preferably FMPro calculation field definitions or simply holiday dates descriptions (i.e. Thanksgiving (USA) : Fourth Thursday of November, every year) along with a description of where the holiday is being observed. I figure once the database is complete enough I would make it available to everybody (post it on this forum and other places) so that no one has to go through this tedious task again.

I'm looking for only the holidays that banks or embassies close for...

I already dealt with a couple of them:

Victoria Day (Canada)

B.C. Day / Civic Holiday / Heritage Day (Canada)

Thanksgiving (Canada)

Thanksgiving (U.S.A)

Good Friday (Easter, which is used to calculate Good Friday was a spicy one!)

New Year's Day (simple enough!)

Second Day of New Year (Quebec)

Alberta Family Day (Alberta)

St. John the Baptist Day (Quebec)

Canada Day (Canada)

Labor Day (Canada)

Remembrance Day (Canada/USA)

Christmas (Christian countries)

Election Day (all of USA?)

Any help is greatly appreciated...

I will also be gathering a list of e-mail of people who whish to receive the final DB. Once the database is final (or almost) I'll send everybody a copy and I'll post it everywhere I can, including this forum.

Thank you all

I did much of what you are trying to do. You will find several posts about it here, April 8, 9, and 10 of this year. Search for "holiday" in all posts in the define fields section and you will find it. Most are very easy, except for Easter and Rosh Hashanah.
