Pop-up menus in Windows NT4

I have the following problem with Pop-up menu:

1. Using FileMaker Pro 5.0 and 5.5

2. Operating system is Windows NT4 (Service Packs 4 and 6)

3. In Layout Mode, I have chosen for Field Format for a particular field, under Style for a value list: "Pop-up menu"

4. When in Browse Mode on this field where Pop-up menu used, the list does not appear vertically with the ability to use the up and down arrows to scroll up and down the vertical list

5. Instead the list is presented vertically to the depth of the screen then further columns of the value list are presented horizontally until the value list runs off the right hand side of the screen. The up and down arrows do not work.

6. The font used by FileMaker Pro is very large

7. "Pop-up list" works fine.

Although I can use Pop-up list I would prefer to only use Pop-up menu.

Is this a known problem with Windows NT4? Is there a fix for it?

Any help would be much appreciated.
