FileMaker Server on Linux: supported fonts

(0 reviews)

One of the differences between the macOS, Windows, and Linux versions of FileMaker Server is the way fonts are handled.

This has an impact when generating PDFs server-side (no impact if you create PDFs client-side with FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Go).

There is also an impact on WebDirect with characters from Eastern languages, but for this, there are Central Europe and Middle East versions of FileMaker Server, which we can install for you.

Apart from the fact that the Linux version doesn’t handle fonts in exactly the same way and that sometimes you will need to resize layout objects to achieve good results (for example, bold characters in some fonts appear bolder on Linux than on macOS or Windows), it is important to know that relatively few fonts are supported due to licensing reasons.

Here is a simplified list of the fonts currently supported by the Linux version.

  • Andale Mono
  • Arial
  • Arial Black
  • Baekmuk (all variants)
  • C059
  • Century Schoolbook
  • Comic Sans MS
