Security Changes And Enhancements In FileMaker® Pro 21

By:

 Wim Decorte

and

Steven H. Blackwell

The recently released FileMaker® Pro 21 new version continues the efforts of Claris/FMI and several members of the FileMaker Developer Community to enhance and improve the Security features in the products.

In this White Paper Wim Decorte and I will discuss much of the Security information relevant to this new release as well as some aspects of other recent patches issued by Claris.

Much of the specific discussion in the White Paper focuses on items within the purview and control of the developer, rather than of Claris, and thus it warrants more attention.  These deal with issues that could cause an Escalation of Privileges for Subordinate Level Users.

Are the vulnerabilities addressed in this new version the same ones that were addressed with the FMS 20.3.2 and 19.6.4 updates? Or are these additional vulnerabilities that still exist in those versions?

…actually, reading it over, yes this is different. Those updates were FMS specific, and these are FMP. Thanks!

Thanks Steven and Wim for taking time out of your busy schedule to update us in the security changes in FileMaker 2024 (21). It's an invaluable service you provide.
