Ok - fixed it. Had page margins checked on the view menu. Thanks for your responses Lee.

no it doesn't change - I've "hovered" everywhere... just figured it out - had page margins selected in the view menu. Thanks for responding Lee

 Here is another screenshot. I want to drag the blue border (the background) over the the orange border - but there is nothing I can seem to click on for some reason....

Yes but I can't seem to click on any borders to expand laterally. I can make the layout bigger up/down, but can't widen it for some reason.

It does look fine - except when I look at it in layout mode. Layout mode looked the same as all other modes up till a few days ago, now I can't figure out why it looks different.

For some reason the size of the background changes when I go into layout mode. No matter what I try, I cannot drag it back to regular size. I have attached a screenshot of the problem in layout mode. I can't seem to get the background back to regular size. When I switch out of layout mode, it expands and looks fine. Any easy answer to this problem? Thanks! Mike
