  1. I have a need to set filemaker server timeout for inactivity to 10 minutes for most of the clients for security reasons. However, the clients that are responsible for daily input and access to the data base are also logged off after ten minutes of inactivity. I need a way to allow a select group of people, either with the status(groups) or status(username) that will not log them out for inactivity. I was hoping to write a script that would execute every 9 minutes, causing activity to occur for the select user. But I can't figure out how to get this to work. Any ideas? Specs: FM Pro 5 Server running on Mac G3 server, TCP/IP, 25 clients mostly running Windows (yech) 98, some macs. 22 data files. Thanks ------------------

  3. I installed the FM server 5 upgrade about two weeks ago, running on a Mac G3 Server fully loaded, 20 files, 20 users average. And not one crash!!! I had crashes before, usually when I used appleshare to connect over the web to the fileserver for remote admin purposes. Most crashes were not fatal. Self restore in one hour or so. I just wish FM would run faster!! Any one else think it's slow? ------------------
  4. I have 750 Megs of Ram on a 500 Mhz G3 Server that is reserved for FM Server 5. I run this on a Novel Network managed by another guy. We have on average about 8 people connected to data files at any time. Most are just viewing. Only 4 have modifcation rights. Solution is 20 files. I wonder if I configure the machine to load FM Server and the files into a RAM disc if it will run any faster? Some things take bloody for ever, like subsummary reports etc. I realize I will have a problem maintaining valid data in case of a crash, but that can be solved. Any ideas? Thanks ------------------
