I have a client installation that I am about to move to FileMaker Server. They don't have the luxury of a dedicated network server - let alone a dedicated FileMaker database server - but a makeshift server running Windows 2000 Pro has been doing very well for them (they only have 3 computers on the network). I tested the eval version of the server on the W2000Pro machine this weekend, and performance was fantastic. However, I tried to run a copy of the FileMaker Pro 5 software on the W200Pro system running the server software, and it was unbearably slow. I know it isn't something that you should normally do, but is there a reason that it was so slow on the same machine that serves the databases? The clients all had magnificent performance results - so I was stumped. Anybody seen this or know anything about it?
