  1. I'm writting on a pc, but the other two users will be Mac, the printer(s) will be on our little network.
  2. I've two printers, Laser and Label. I have stumbled, I think on how to create scripts to print either Current Record or Records being browsed. I've NOT been able to find the right sequence to have a script specify which printer to use. The keep/restore thing is not as straight forward as I would hope, and I sense that is where my problem lies. I'm trying to build a solution for relative illiterates to whom having to learn how to specify a printer would be considered high level training in which they would not participate. Any solutions or better stated tutorials anyone could point me too?
  3. Bingo...I owe you lunch
  4. I'm new to sharing DBases and need help. I've two computers with FM on them one a PC (W2K, FM6) and one Mac (OS9, FM5.5). I've one little file to test with, on which I've set a password with full privileges, and set File Sharing to Multi-User, and checked Companion Sharing to Local Data Access Companion. I'm opening the file on my PC, and accessing it on the Mac. When I click the Mac's "Host" button it presents me with a Blank list. If I try to open the file from the file list, I get "Source.fp5 is currently in use and could not be opened. The file is single-user or the host could not be found on the network". If I try it from PC to Mac, I get the same message on attempting a direct access. I get a host button that will let me enter the IP address of the mac, but leaves the OK button grayed and the file list blank. Any suggestions?
  5. I need to build/Share a database. I've got FM5 (Mac and PC) and one other user here, out of the 4 that will need to share this data, as an older version. 1. With so few users, do I need to get FM Server, or can we simply set up one machine to host the data? The usage will be very low, with each photographer updating data one record at a time as a shot is completed, maybe 10 times a day. 2. Will the web companion allow us to build a solution on one system and have that host it as web pages to the others...or is that worth more trouble than a few CAL's would cost us to do it the other way? Thanks thrill seekers!
  6. I'm trying to create an image database that will help me print my Photo Portfolio. It's working great BUT. I have PC and Mac Versions. I was tinkering yesterday at home (PC) but want to print from my Mac (Office) as color calibration with the printer has already been set. I've been using the Insert/Picture with "Store only a reference" option as I'd like to be able to manipulate images in Photoshop and have FM reference those files to print. Problem: when I open my file created on the pc (the images are on the PC as well so I can do a tape backup) on the Mac, rather than seeing the images I get. Could not Draw Picture file: ImageName.jpg.... I assume that the mac is lost and doesn't see the full path to the file. Is this right, and is there some way to lie to one of these machines to circumvent this problem? Should I develop on a 3rd machine so the file refference is never local?
