  1. I use filemaker pro server 5 and filemaker pro 5. I have a wired and wireless network using Microsoft wireless equipment. This all works fine on my XP and 2000 machines, but when I use it on a Win 98 2nd machine, it keep's loosing its connection to the file. I guess there is some sort of momentary loss to the connection and filemaker won't let it reconnect without closing out of filemaker and restarting it. None of the other programs I run off the server has this problem. Has anyone else have this problem? Do you know of a fix jbroumas@co.ocean.nj.us
  2. I run FMP 5 on an NT server with FMP Server 5. When some one has a file open, and I need to make changes on the file, I am unable to do so until that person closes the file. Is there any way I can give my self "King" status and throw them off so I can make the changes with out tracking them down and having them close the file. I want to be able to do this from my work station. (I am the administrator of this system)
  3. I have 10 FMP databases that are rarely used. Should I run them off of FMP server, or just run them as stand alone databases. Does having these running in FMP server use up any resources?
  4. Will FMP Server 5.0 run on Win 2000 Server? When I purchased the program, it did not say it would or wouldn't, but the manual had instructions for Server 2000. I want to upgrade my server from NT to 2000. If it won't work, and I purchase server 5.5, will I also have to purchase FMP 5.5 for each of my clients or will FMP 5 be able to run off of server 5.5?
  5. Andrew, I followed your instructions, but it only backed up 1/2 of my databases. Is this because some of them are open? If so, I need to back these up when they are open as we need some of them running 24/7. Is there a way to do this?
  6. I use FMP 5.0 Server running on Windows NT. The backup program that comes with NT will not back up A FMP database when it is open. I use ARCserve for a backup program, and it will back it up when it is open, but quite frankly, ARCserve program is just too complicated and way beyond what I need. Do any of you use a simple back up program that will back up a FMP database while it is open? Also if I upgrade to Win Server 2000, do any of you know if the backup program included with it will back up a FMP database while it is open?
