When I revisited what I had done, using your checklist, I found I had done what you suggested, but the catch was the box at the end of this sequence: Layout / Format / Field format / Behaviour / Allow entry into fields. I had not ticked this box. When I did, end of problem, all other things being equal. thanks for your help. I'm glad to have found this site! Best wishes - Param

I'm using FM5 for the first time on an iBook running OS9.2. I'm creating a new database, very very simple. I have some fields where I want a predetermined choice of text. I created the value lists ok and allocated them to the fields. But when I try to create a record, the lists don't appear as pop-ups or anything else, when I tab through the fields, these fields are just skipped. Probably simple but I don't get it... Thanks, Param
