I'm experiencing the same problem with both FM Dev 6, and FM Dev 7 on my machine. I've also tried a co-workers XP machine and FM 6. Neither laptops can host multi-user FM files.
I receive the following error below with FM 6 products.
"FileMaker cannot host a file because of a network error. Files marked as Multi-User will not be available over the network. (10048)"
I receive the following error below with FM 7 products.
"FileMaker cannot share files because another user is already sharing files using FileMaker Pro on this computer"
I was able to host this same file using FM 6 on a 3rd XP laptop and FM 6 Unlimited on a Win 2000 server. I cannot figure out what's different on these machines.
I've turned off windows firewall without success.
FM server isn't installed on the problem laptops.
I ran NETSTAT at the cmd prompt and verified that port 5003 isn't being used by another application.
I've turned on Remote Data Access companion and Local Data Access companion.
I've tried file recovery, that didn't solve the problem.
Does anybody have any other suggestions?
