Ok so all I want is a script that matches the requested_date in one file with the available_date in another and this then lists all those people that are available in another layout, if you need more details please ask, I am desperate for assistance Thanks all

OK, I am with you on just creating a few more related fields, thats sorted Now, when I insert all the data into my portal, how do I create a new availability for that person that is: the portal allows entry for all data for say date : 26/8/2003 available for : late, night, afternoon now you are also available for 27/8/2003, how do you get it to offer a 'blank' portal that is not the previoulsy entered data..(I know that entering data will create a new record in the related file, but I dont want the user to see this)

Hello All, this is probably a real stupid question but I am having one of those days... Ok so I am trying to make a staff availiability database, I already have a relational DB for the staff and now I want to log their avaliabilities. So a somebody with id number xxx phones up and says: "Hi its suchandsuch, I am available to work on the 29th on an early or a night shift" So I have created a new file (availability) with id_number, time_avail and date_avail in it, and then linked stuck a portal in my main file to avail_time and avail_date now the problem is, how do I attach multiple times to 1 date? and see them appropriately in the layout? Any help appreiciated... Cheers all

Hi All, I am fairly new to Filemaker - but not totally ignorant of database theory (though I feel pretty stupid at the moment) What I am trying to do is expand an exsisting relational filemaker database to include some new tables, namely I have a bunch of staff details, with their work details in another table. What I am trying to do is build an 'availability' table so a member of staff can phone up and say they can work on such and such a date and at such and such a time. So what I want to be able to do is add many records to my new availability table all based on one id_number field- which is obviously the same in both tables. When I try and insert the id_number into my new table (either as a calculated result or as a straight relation) I just get errors any help at all is hugely appreciated (Filemaker 6 by the way)
