  1. thanks for the tip, but it didn't do the trick. it did enable me to print all the pages of all the records in the file, but it didn't allow for any changes in what i could see in the preview, or to print more than I was able to with that single record. FileMaker Version: 6 Platform: Windows XP
  2. For some reason, my multi-page layout, which shows and is functional in Browse mode, does not show right in Print or Preview. Meaning, when I switch to Preview, only page 1 of all 6 pages shows. All of the pages from 2-6 are a single text field, but from what i gather, that should be no problem. Also, the Body extends all of the way from Header to end of Document. Any problems evident in what i'm saying? All i know is that this is a big holdup to a project that is ALMOST DONE! Thanks for any advice. FileMaker Version: 6 Platform: Windows XP
  3. Even in brand new layouts, I simply cannot get my preview to show more than one page of text data that extends across page breaks, nor can i get it to print more than one page. All the Part boxes are unchecked. Nothing seems to help. OY i'm dying hea. FileMaker Version: 6 Platform: Windows XP
  4. Howdy. Is it possible to only do a relookup of the CURRENT record, not all of the records in a layout. And, if so, how!? Version: v6.x Platform: Windows XP
  5. well, that would seem like the correct fix, but for some reason, it didn't help. again, prob is that only page 1 of 6 shows in preview, or prints, tho in browse you can see the whole thing. And lord, i'd love to know how to see page breaks as well so i can add things like page numbers. again, any help is muchos appreciados. dt
  6. Howdy. Got a 6 page FM layout that's: page one of mixed fields (text, number, calc), but then 5 more pages of text that is all in one Text field. However, in Preview, and in Print mode, there is only one page (the 1st one), and I can't figure out what I've done wrong, and what i need to do to engage or make the otehr 5 pages come alive. Any advice? daniel Version: v6.x Platform: Windows XP
  7. howdy howdy. i am attempting to create a layout that i can export into an emailable text format attachment so that the recipient would be able to open it as a, say, word document. The layout has text fields, but also number, and calculation. So, i'm trying to figure two things. the first is most important, and a bit urgent. 1. How to export the layout to a Word format (if possible). 2. How to enter a script that would enable me to export the file into emailable format, and then email it thru Eudora, too. Any assitance with either aspect would be much obliged. Aloha! Version: v6.x Platform: Windows XP
  8. Howdy. I am attempting to create a situation where when i choose one item from a pop-up menu, for example, an island in hawaii, I want the pop-up menu in the next field to contain only data specific to that island. For example, if i choose "Maui" from my first pop-up, i want only a list of beaches on maui to pop up in the next field; if I choose Kauai, then only beaches on Kauai will appear in the next field's pop-up. i know that I have to create a relationship between the two fields, "Islands" and "Beaches" and then to create value lists that work within that relationship, HOWEVER, I can't for the life of me figure out what the hell to really do, tho its not for lack of trying. Any advice would be appreciated. Best regards. Version: v6.x Platform: Windows XP
  9. thank you fenton. i'm pretty new at all this, so any help goes a long long way. I'll try the first solution (as I prefer the easier route, and it seems that is the easier of the two), and see how it goes. much aloha.
  10. Hi! Help! I am attempting to create a new layout for my database, one in which I pull many of the fields into a printable contract (or any type of document, actually) without any graphics or text boxes, etc, just a document I can print and fax to clients. But trying to use the Insert Merge Field method is definitely not working due to the number of fields (slow going), and the fact that I'm then having to go back in and type the field names in front of the inserted merge field, and the texts are overlapping, difficult to organize, and too numerous to organize, too. Not every field, however, needs to have the field name in front of it--only some. I intuit that there is another way to create a new layout that's only text and merge fields, but in perhaps just a few steps. Is there a trick I'm missing? Something I need to consider? I really appreciate any assistance. Daniel Version: v6.x Platform: Windows XP
