  1. I have an application where users are able to import photos into container fields. To keep overall file size down, I want to be able to validate these fields either by the size of the file being inserted (i.e. <1MB) or by the resolution of the image being inserted (i.e. 640 x 480 only). Any way to do this? TIA
  2. My client wants to add mail merge functionality to their FM-based contacts DB. They have created layouts within their existing FM file that print as form letters. I am re-doing the DB in kiosk mode so as to limit their ability to screw up layouts, scripts, etc. This will, however, also limit their ability to change or add these form letter layouts. Anyone know a trick that will enable a user to create/edit a layout in kiosk mode? Or should they maybe create their form letters in Word and merge the database via ODBC? Will that work on a Mac? Is there a way to script it so they can call up the form letters directly from their DB interface and have them load and merge with the current found record set automatically? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers. Mark East

    PDA question

WARNING Be VERY sure Afeina's products are exactly what you need before you purchase a license. We made the mistake of purchasing after integrating the AfFiler and ProPrint plugins and testing them for a couple hours. After purchasing, we ran into MAJOR stability issues with both plugins and gave up. NO REFUNDS!! We're now out over $400 and have nothing but a couple useless, unstable, thrown-together glorified batch files. Afeina has a LONG way to go before their products are worth this much money. If you're looking for PDF generation, emailing and printer switching capabilites, I heartily recommend the schubec PS2PDF plugin (yes, it's an actual FMX plugin, unlike Afeina's crap) available at www.schubec.com.

  5. Yeah... Get rid of ProPrint! Afeina's software is complete crap.

  9. Anyone?
  10. Does anyone know if FM7 handles the Windows system caret properly?
  11. So, I have this solution for the home inspection industry that was done in FMP5/6. We run it in kiosk mode on ruggedized tablet PCs running XP Tablet Edition. Upgraded (?) one of them to SP2 the other night and, lo and behold, Microsoft has completely changed the way they handle the Tablet Input Panel (popup keyboard, handwritting recognition, etc). Seems it now senses when the user clicks on a text entry field (supposedly in any application) and a little button pops up next to that field. The user clicks on the button and the TIP pops up. Simple. Elegant... except it doesn't work at all with FileMaker!! Anybody know why this might be? Does Filemaker not make proper use of the Windows system caret? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! TIA
