  1. FYI - I found the answer. There is a file in a hidden folder - C:Documents and SettingsusernameApplication DataFileMakerFileMaker Pro5.0FMHosts.txt - that has the list of hosted servers. You can just add/remove server names/IP addresses in this file and save.
  2. I went to filemaker and clicked on hosts--> specify host. I added a server name and checked "permanently add entry to host list." I want to remove this server from the list now -- how do I do that? Thanks!
  3. I installed FileMaker Pro 5 on a Windows 2003 server. I would like to create a schedule task to run every night and import data from another database via an ODBC connection. However, when I go to Import, the "files of type" list does not have "ODBC sources" on the list. Do you know why it would be missing? I've installed FileMaker Pro on many workstations and it is always there. Thanks in advance for the help!
  4. }-) Thanks for all the help. I'm resistant to upgrade to 8.5 because I'd have to re-create all of my databases, value lists, scripts, etc. I kind of feel that if I have to go through all that work, I'd rather just upgrade to a SQL server database... M
  5. The values appeared and then disappeared. But then I changed the setting to do not store etc. and it works. I changed "Song Title" in CDSong from a calculation field to a text field and now I have the song title in CDSent. This raises a concern for me though. Won't this increase the file size of CDSong since before "Song Title" wasn't really stored in the file (just a calculation) and now it is...?
  6. Thanks for your help. I got it to work...but then it disappeared. I was reading some other topics and people mentioned that you'd have a hard time with refreshing. Do you know why this happens? Also, how would I look up the name of the song? Like you said, I can not bring Song Title into CDSent because it is not indexed and it must be indexed... M
  7. I've never used that before. When I tried doing this, I just got all songs instead of only those songs for a particular CD. I've created value lists containing values from a relationship, but that didn't work here. Maybe I'm doing it wrong??
  8. Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right place... I have 5 tables: CDs, Songs, Contacts, CDSongs, CDSent CDs - list of CDs in library Songs - Song names Contacts - List of contacts CDSongs - Which songs are on which CDs CDSent - Which contacts got which CDs I've been asked to provide one report that lists the Names of the people that received CDs and the dates they were sent (CDSent) along with the songs they received. I'm guessing if I had a later edition of Filemaker this would be easier, but is there any way to do this with FM5? To me it seems like it would have to be 2 separate reports from 2 separate tables (CDSent and CDSong). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks M
  9. It doesn't seem strange. The script actually imports records from other tables on the as400 and those seem to work fine. I should also point out that these tables are part of an application created by a third party.
  10. Hello All, I have a script that is triggered every night (using oAzium events) that deletes all records from a table and then imports data that exists in a table on our AS400. This script runs smoothly pretty much every night, but one morning last week, after users complained that FileMaker was really slow, I noticed that the script, which usually takes a few minutes to complete, was still running in the morning. I cancelled the script and then saw that there were 7 million records in the file when there should have been 250,000! The first 250,000 rows had data and the next 6.75 million were just blank. Needless to say, FileMaker was slow for everyone that morning since the script was slowing down the server. I restored the file to a previous copy and then that night, the same thing happened again! Again, I restored the file and it hasn't happened again since. Any ideas? Your help will be greatly appreciated! M
