  1. I posted once before, but decided to take a step back and post a more general question. I want to use the Photo Catalog template to create a Photo Database with more detailed fields. Am I correct in assuming the following: 1) Create the photo database from the template, then place it in the Filemaker Server 5.5 folder on our FM Server computer. This way, the Filemaker clients can "see" the database when you go to Open External File >> Hosts. 2) All referenced photos should reside on the network (in this case, a MAC server) so that all computers can "see" the photos. Is this all correct so far? My main concern at the moment is that some users are able to access the database, but other users log-in to the SAME client computer, and the database either runs EXTREMELY slow, or freezes up.
  2. >>did you open your solution using filemaker pro and filemaker server from the same computer? Well, working on the client computer, I opened Filemaker Pro first, then >> Open Existing File >> Hosts and then found the file I was looking for, which was residing on the server.
  3. So we've got a photo database (designed from the photo template). We've got a Filemaker server computer, then we've got a Mac office server, where the photos are residing on a shared drive. All the images are being referenced through thumbnails. Basically, one computer may react differently to the database, depending on what user is logged in. User A may log-in and be able to "see" the referenced picture files, and be able to flip through them very fast. . But User B may log in and "see" the files, but the database runs soooo slow...it takes up to 15 seconds to flip from picture to picture. Any help or assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Even our IT guy couldn't figure this one out. nadia
  4. Tammy, We are trying to create a networked photo database and are having the same problem. We've got a Filemaker server computer, then we've got a Mac office server, where the photos are residing on a shared drive. Our problem resembles yours, but is also a little different. Basically, one computer may react differently to different users. User A may log-in and be able to "see" the referenced picture files. User B may log in and not be able to see anything. Have you clicked on the thumbnail view screen yet? The strange thing is that when we click on this, we can see all the pics, so FM must know where they are, right? Any help or assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. We're having an IT volunteer come in today to look at our situation, so if he has any insight/solutions, I'll be sure to post and let you know. Good luck nadia
